Portland Poet, Karen Hery, brings the nature of poetry alive with a sensual journey through our most intimate relationships with self and other including our erotic relationship to nature. Sit back, relax and enjoy her unique performance poetry while exploring the ins and outs of treating the earth as lover instead of mother. Karen travels the West Coast sharing poetry in all sorts of interesting places including the Center for Sex Positive Culture in Seattle, the Luv Hub in LA and at Surrender, the Ecosex Convergence every summer in rural Washington. Bio: Karen Hery studied poetry and communications at UC San Diego in the late 80’s, worked at San Diego radio stations and then settled into Silicon Valley in the 90’s where she was invited into the Maiko Drum and Poetry group in 2002.
Karen has lived in Portland Oregon since 2006. She travels throughout the West Coast offering poetry performances from San Diego to Seattle in support of Ecosexual awareness and the annual Surrender: EcoSex Convergence event.
Karen is the founder of the community oriented Swap and Play movement centered in Portland and featured in Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI)’s Clever Voices, Clever Choices program. She writes regularly for Portland’s Southeast Examiner community newspaper and supports the Windward Sustainability and Research Center in Washington.
