Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing their mind on a particular object, thought or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state. Meditation has been practiced since antiquity in numerous religious traditions and beliefs. Since the 19th century, it has spread from its origins to other cultures where it is commonly practiced in private and business life.
Meditation may be used with the aim of reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and pain, and increasing peace, perception,self-concept, and well-being. Meditation is under research to define its possible health (psychological, neurological, and cardiovascular) and other effects.
I will be leading a guided meditation using Apps such as: Calm, Insight Timer, Headspace and Stop, Breathe & Think. As well as playing a ceremonial crystal singing bowl, tuned to the throat Chakra or a "G" note.
There will be a 15 minute period allocated to settling in and allowing for late arrivals, in which attendees can ground and get comfortable.
We begin with breathing exercises, and our main course is a 20-30 minute guided meditation, followed by a singing crystal bowl, ending with some more grounding breathing exercises.
Afterwards there will be another 15 minute period where people are encouraged to write in a journal or share their experiences.
If people need one-on-one assistance, I can provide that afterwards. While we do have some pillows and seat-cushions I encourage everyone to bring their own favorite aid to allow for ease of posture in sitting for about 1 hour.
If individuals want to bring food or beverages (non-alcoholic) to share with everyone that is welcome. Donations are also welcome but in no way obligatory.
Please contact Nathaniel for any questions, comments, concerns.
Thank you and looking forward to deepening mindful connections with self and others. Afterwards, we can all jump in the hot tub for extra relaxation with some chill music. Please be considerate of our quiet neighborhood when arriving and departing.
