Tuesday is the New Sunday!
Do you finish work early? or can you arrange to do so? Do you not work Tuesdays?
Let's go see the 3rd floor of the Inaugural Exhibit of the new Broad Museum of Contemporary Art in Downtown Los Angeles.
The Broad’s third-floor galleries, which constitute 70 percent of the museum’s gallery space, display a robust and changing selection of highlights from the Broad collection and are accessible with free general admission. General admission tickets are timed and available every half hour, up until one hour before the museum closes.
The inaugural installation [some of which is exhibited on the 3rd floor; not all of what is ] features a predominantly chronological selection of masterworks from the Broad collection. The installation begins on the third floor with works by major artists who came to prominence in the 1950s, including Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, and Cy Twombly. The Pop art of the 1960s—an area of great depth in the collection—is represented through works by Roy Lichtenstein, Ed Ruscha, and Andy Warhol, among others.
Moving into the 1980s, the installation presents a rich concentration of works by artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Barbara Kruger, and Jeff Koons. http://www.thebroad.org/art/inaugural-installation
I got 7 tix for Tues, June 7 at 4pm. I'd like to share the wealth! Let's go to the museum then get a bite to eat.
Please note: *General admission tickets do not include access to the Cindy Sherman special exhibition. There is another amBi event for this: http://www.meetup.com/amBiLA/events/230807075/
Nor do free general admission tickets guarantee access to Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room installation, which we will in all likelihood arrive too late in the day to see.
