Group Process & Self-Defense Workshop #2

  • The Bi Loft 600 S. Spring Street #503 Los Angeles, CA USA (map)

Los Angeles Chapter members RSVP here.

As we have embarked upon difficult times where many in our community may feel less safe than before, amBi is hosting a one-of-a-kind group processing and self-defense combination workshop offered by Dr. Lady Dragon, licensed clinical psychologist and Krav Maga green belt. The workshop will consist of opening up space to discuss fears, worries, concerns, providing some support and then lead into teaching practical self-defense skills. Dr. Lady Dragon will be going over what to do in an actual attack (after trying to talk someone down, or if ignoring someone doesn't work, or if it's just a surprise attack) focusing on the attacker's "weak spots". It is our hope that workshop participants will leave feeling more confident and secure with tangible skills that they feel they could actually use if a given situation called for it.

As space is limited, we would like to kindly request that priority be given to amBi members with multiple minority status who might be most vulnerable or at risk for bashing i.e. Bi+ individuals who are also people of color, women, gender non-conforming, transgender, etc.

PLEASE BE ON TIME. LATE ARRIVALS WILL BE TURNED AWAY. NO EXCEPTIONS!

What to wear? Workshop participants should wear comfortable clothing - either yoga or workout clothes and athletic shoes.

About Dr. Lady Dragon Dr. Lady Dragon is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked for the UCLA-Santa Monica Rape Treatment Center for over 4 years. While already having a long-standing interest in learning krav maga, the nature of the work at RTC prompted Dr. Lady Dragon to pursue taking some self-defense classes. Dr. Lady Dragon has been a student at Roy Elghanayan Krav Maga (REKM) for 4 years. Over the course of her training at REKM, she has earned her yellow, orange, and green belts. She is now currently working on earning a blue belt.

Cost & Venue Information This workshop is being offered free of charge to the amBi community through the generosity of the facilitator and the AIB who have made the space available to us.

The Bi Loft is located in a busy part of DTLA and street parking is limited, so if you choose to drive you may have to park in a paid lot. Public transport options are also readily available.
