Introduction to Digital Organizing

  • The Bi Loft 600 S. Spring Street #503 Los Angeles, CA USA (map)

Social media has become an incredible force in all our lives and mastering it is now an important skill for work, activism, and our personal lives. I'm so excited that Beth Becker, the person who first taught both Rio and me digital organizing, will be teaching her intro to digital organizing class at the American Institute of Bisexuality right here in Southern California! She's one of the country's top social media trainers for social justice/progressive causes and her trainings are amazing.

You can register here for a reduced rate of $100 before the training is offered to the general public

This 2-day training will cover the following topics: • The role digital organizing can play throughout your entire organization • Introduce you to some of the basic strategies of email writing and social media

• Building an offline and online strategy that works together and how to then measure the results

  • It will also be a great networking opportunity where you'll meet others involved in progressive activism in Southern California and beyond.

The AIB is hosting this training to create bi visibility. That means more bi people being visible online and effectively advocating for themselves and the larger bi community. That also means politically active (monosexual) people in LA coming for training in a bi-owned space and experiencing our community firsthand.

In other words, we'd love to have YOU join us! If you use or could use social media for work, you may be able to get your employer to sponsor you and give you time away from your normal routine to take the training.

You can register here before it's offered to the general public. AIB is donating use of the space, so we asked for a lower fee than usual to make the training accessible to more people. The fee is only $100 and there are 5 scholarships available for those for whom may be $100 is prohibitive. This will be announced to the general public later by this weekend and we'd like lots of bi representation, so if you're interested please jump on it right away. :)

Public Transportation: You don't have to drive to LA! MetroLink offers service from Oceanside to LA Union Station and of course there's Amtrak. From there, it's cheapest to take the DASH D bus (just 50¢) from Patsaouras Bus Plaza at Union Station. Please consult Google:

Parking: This is downtown LA, so parking can get expensive. Our favorite lot on the NE block of 6th & S Spring streets (entrance off Spring) charges $9/day (subject to change)
