Yes, it's that time again! Time to enjoy the healthy and indulgent wonders of a fabulous Korean spa with your fellow amBisexuals at Century Day Spa & Sports Club. Century is bi far amBi's favorite Korean spa (and soon to be yours too)!
We have made a special arrangement of $15 admission (normally $25) for each member of our group, payable directly to the spa at reception. Cash or Credit.
Century is a somewhat westernized (and gay/bi-friendly!!) version of a traditional Korean spa, and a unique cultural delight. We'll spend the afternoon steaming, soaking, lounging, and conversing in well appointed gender-specific and co-ed areas featuring various tubs, steam rooms, and therapeutic specialty saunas. Spa goers are usually nude (if you're shy about being nude in front of people of the same gender, you may be surprised at how natural it feels in an environment like this!) in the gender-specific areas and are provided shorts & t-shirts to wear in the co-ed, family-friendly area known as the "Jimjilbang." [sadly, this does not translate literally].
Here's a video you can watch about Century Spa:
Should you choose to splurge, the spa does offer a complete array of services such as massage, body scrubs, facials, and so forth for an additional but reasonable cost. These are available on a first come, first serve basis and can be booked upon check in or by calling Century in advance at (323) 954-1020. Most of us do not add on such services, but a few do; so do what's right for you. There are some incentives involved which you should be aware of:
• If you spend $70 in optional add-on services, you will get complimentary entry to the gender-specific spa only and can upgrade to Jimjilbang entry [the JJB entry is what you want for the amBi event] for $5 more.
• If you spend $100 in optional add-on services, you will get complimentary entry to the gender specific spa and the Jimjilbang and won't have to pay the $15 entry fee.
If you don't think you're going to get at least $70 in optional add-on services, your best bet is to pay the discounted entry fee we have arranged.
Our entry fee does give us access to the gym and lap pool. Should you wish to use the gym or the pool, be sure to bring proper gym attire and a bathing suit and swim cap for the pool. We also encourage you to bring any spa oriented accessories you like to use (such as scrubbing mitts, loofahs, face masks, etc) to further enrich your experience and take advantage of the opportunity to pamper yourself in such a conducive environment. Scrubbing/exfoliating in conjunction with steaming and sweating is highly recommended. Please use them only in the bathing areas.
WHAT TO BRING
• Flip flops/slippers
• Spa accessories such as scrubbing mitts, loofahs, face masks, etc (optional).
• Gym attire (optional), bathing suit and swim cap for the pool (optional).
• Cash for tipping your massage/scrub/facial therapist (only if you opt for these add-on activities)
Century sells an assortment of beverages and quick snacks like energy bars at the front desk. They also have a café where they sell some reasonably-priced Korean dishes, basic sushi rolls, shaved ice, and smoothies.
We will be gathering as a group around 4:30 or 5 pm to enjoy some snacks and refreshments at the café. Please note, any food or drinks you purchase are extra and not included in the entry fee.
PARKING & CONTACT DETAILS
Free Parking in the spa's onsite lot which is accessible from Bronson Ave just south of Olympic Blvd. :-) We'll meet in the lobby/check-in area at 2:00 pm. Please arrive on time to ensure your participation in this event.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT NOTE
If you are arriving to the spa on foot, please be reminded that the entrance to the spa is on the back side of the building accessible through the parking lot entrance only. There is no entrance on Olympic Blvd.
If you have not previously enjoyed this particular form of luxurious relaxation, you must try it. And what better way to do that than on a Saturday afternoon with your friends from amBi?
See you there,
Vishal & Loren
Please note that all Korean spas are communal bathing environments and separate people based on nude cisgender expression. If your gender identity varies from that, please contact the event host(s) to discuss potential options.
