Question for you: is it possible to be both religious and sex-positive?
You tell us! While many people have been hurt by religion, others find it indispensable. For some, AMBI and SPLA are critical on the journey from religion towards wholeness; for others religion is the source of an ethical personhood and sexuality.
We are a diverse group! Come learn about your fellow AMBI and SPLA members in a way that can be as intimate as a cuddle session! :)
We warmly invite everyone, whether you're Atheist, Secular Humanist or Agnostic; New Thought, Pagan or Wiccan; Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, or any faith we may have missed, to attend "OMG! When Religion and Sex Come Together! - A Panel Discussion." Our aim is to engage in an honest, healthy and possibly healing discussion about religion, and we hope you will join us for what we believe is an unique opportunity within sex-positive circles.
The Schedule: 2:00 – 2:20: Arrival, meet and greet, format basics. Doors close at 2:30.
2:20 – 3:00: As part of a 'head & heart' approach to religion, there will be a brief lecture and Q & A on a topic that might be of interest given the upcoming election. Donald Trump's candidacy has brought the Prosperity Gospel further into the mainstream. We'll take a look at this particular brand of evangelical faith, learn its history and discuss its impact on our society.
3:00 - 3:15: A short break for refreshments
3: 15 - 4:50: A panel discussion with four members of SPLA representing various identities and experiences with religion and a sex-positive lifestyle. From the devout to the undecided to the definitely not, this panel will provide space for all opinions about whether a sex-positive life can also be a religious one. In fact, we urge everyone during the Q & A to feel free to share their honest thoughts and feelings about religion. This is the moment we hope will be most rewarding, and, of course, our usual rules of safety and confidentiality will be in effect. We had a wonderful discussion at our last event!
4:50 - 5:00: Closing remarks and announcements We hope to see you there! Feel free to comment, or message us, with any questions or concerns.
