L.A. Pride Parade, featuring the stars of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend!

  • amBi Truck (read for details) 1114 N Crescent Heights Blvd West Hollywood, CA 90046 United States (map)

Los Angeles Chapter members RSVP here.

We're so excited! This year we'll have the stars of the network TV hit Crazy Ex-Girlfriend performing live for us! Rachel Bloom, the creator and lead in the show just won a Golden Globe! This is big time, folks!

Here is a clip from the show of Peter Gardner preforming his character's coming out song "Getting Bi."

amBi’s own fabulous Kai Hazelwood will be choreographing our dance/march for us. If you have any special talents — stilt-walking, juggling, gymnastics, flag-twirling, baton-chucking — please comment here to let Kai know right away!

We want EVERYONE to be a part of this float. It is going to be epic!

And dear amBi family in Portland, San Francisco, San Diego, all across the hemisphere… COME TO L.A. & JOIN IN THE PARADE!! The more the merrier, for sure! We want the greatest amBi parade participation ever!

As you may have noticed, the meeting time is a bit earlier this year. That's because we have to practice our routine! :)

In case you haven't joined us for Pride before, here is a little taste. LAST year, the Try Guys joined us and we were heavily featured in BuzzFeed's official Pride video that came out to celebrate the Supreme Court same-sex marriage victory:

* NEW UPDATED INFO *

PLEASE NOTE: an RSVP here is an RSVP for the PARADE!

We will be along Crescent Heights between Santa Monica and Fountain. The nearest business is The Hudson 1114 N Crescent Heights Blvd West Hollywood, CA 90046. Please look for us somewhere in that general area.

You'll find us starting at 7:30am, decorating the truck, selling shirts, et cetera. Look for the bi colors and the amBi shirts. We should be easy to find. We will also post comments here that morning, to let you know where we are.

WHAT TO WEAR: This year, we need EVERYONE to wear an amBi T-shirt. Please bring wear your amBi shirt, if you have one. We are asking for $20/shirt to help cover costs, if you can afford it. If not, we understand. Your participation is your most important contribution, of course.

Bring sunscreen, a hat, water, cash and wear comfortable walking shoes. You might also need a granola bar or a change of socks, or ???, whatever will help keep you comfortable. Remember that you have to carry whatever you bring. It is a parade in L.A. in the summer.

Be there between 7:30 & 8:00 to help decorate the truck (which really is part of the fun). We will have bagels and coffee available on a first-come, first-served basis for those helping decorate.

Parade step-off is at 11:00, please arrive by 9:30 so we can rehearse and be ready to go on time. We will march/dance/flag-wave our way down Santa Monica Blvd. from Crescent Heights to Robertson. The parade could last as late as 3:00, although we should be done around 1pm.

Parking will be a challenge! We encourage you to carpool and arrive early! Permit parking is suspended for the entire weekend, and metered parking is suspended on Sunday, inside the city limits of West Hollywood (so street parking is free, but be careful that you are officially in WeHo and not in L.A.). There are public parking structures where parking is available for $20 (which is only $5 each if four people carpool). The city has a list of structures is available here (This is a few years old, but it seems to be the latest available): http://www.weho.org/Home/Components/News/News/2648/1241?backlist=%2fresidents%2farts-and-culture%2fone-city-one-pride-arts-festival

amBi will have a booth inside the Pride Festival which is in West Hollywood Park, very near the end of the Parade route. Feel free to come hang out with us there, if you wish. It costs $25+ to get into the Festival and it runs until 11:00pm.

There is a shuttle running AFTER the Parade that might help you get back to your vehicle, or anywhere else you want to go in WeHo. Check the map and hours here (This is a few years old, but it seems to be the latest available): http://lapride.org/pdf/Pride_Ride_Map.pdf

Don't let all these details deter you. Pride is a giant celebration of all things queer and amBi members definitely know how to celebrate! See you all there!
