Roosterfish Bar Farewell and Abbot Kinney Stroll - Venice

  • Roosterfish Abbot Kinney Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90291 United States (map)

Los Angeles Chapter members RSVP here.

Join us for a fun afternoon in Venice, strolling, eating and drinking. We'll meet up on Abbot Kinney Blvd., walk around and grab a bite at one or more various casual eateries located on the two blocks between Palms Blvd. and California Ave., meander our way up Abbot Kinney checking out the eclectic shops along the way, and end up at the Roosterfish. This cash-only Venice Beach landmark, currently the only gay bar on the Westside, and in service for 36 years will be closing its doors in May. So let's get together and bid farewell to this famous, gritty neighborhood queer dive bar complete with an outdoor patio, pool tables and a great jukebox!

Food Trucks -there will likely be a couple of them at The Brig's parking lot.

Abbot's Pizza, a solid by-the-slice joint which has become an AK institution.

Abbot's Habit, another longtime fixture of Abbot Kinney is a coffee shop & cafe known for its sandwiches, salads & wraps.

Gjelina Take Away - the "to go" annex of the famed, chef-driven California-Mediterranean restaurant lauded by food critics.

N'ice Cream, serves up organic gelato and sorbetto.

Salt & Straw, an ice cream parlor originating in Portland, is a recent and decidedly hipster addition to the Venice scene.

• Cash (the Roosterfish is cash-only)

• Comfortable walking shoes (we may walk 0.5 to 1 mile total)

Some metered parking behind The Brig other establishments along the east side of Abbot Kinney and a select few public valet spots on Abbot Kinney charging up to $10.

The LA Metro Line 33 and SM Big Blue Bus Line 18 both have stops on or near Abbot Kinney Blvd. and will drop you off within a short walking distance of our meeting point. If coming by train, take the Expo Line to the Culver City station and then transfer to the 33 bus which runs along Venice Blvd. Please be sure to check the timetables as services can run less frequently on Sundays.

Please arrive on time so we can all get started on our stroll and noshing adventure together. See you there!
