Mimi Hoang, PhD, co-founder of amBi, is a Sacramento native. She will be visiting from SoCal during the holidays and wants to meet you all, members of the newest amBi chapter! Let's do what amBi folk love to do -- let's eat!
The Broderick on L has amazing food, everything is made in house or locally sourced. We'll meet there at 10:00 sharp, to beat the Sunday brunch rush. The Broderick is also named after a pioneer who stood up for, and died for, the civil rights of others. Check it out:
A bit of group history: back in 2006, Mimi and a few others launched A Meeting of Bi Individuals (AMBI) in Los Angeles. They marched in Pride for the first time in 2008 with all the other bisexual groups in the area -- 14 marchers, total. (See photo below.)
Since then amBi has grown to 2,431 members across five chapters in two states! In 2015, there were 87 amBi marchers in the L.A. Pride parade. (The photo can't even begin to capture the group that extended outside the frame in both directions.)
amBi Sacto is just starting out and we're lucky to be part of the larger amBi family. Come meet one of the folks who started it all.
Or ignore all that and just come get your brunch on! Wind down from your holiday with amBi friends and maybe one of those Broderick frozen custard shakes!
Brunch! Hope to see you there!
